Harkness home theater screen surfaces have been developed from technology used in cinema screens, which are supplied worldwide by Harkness. The following surfaces are available for use with Harkness home theater screens.
Matt Plus
Matt Plus is a cinema quality optically brightened matt white vinyl surface with a reflectance level (gain) of 1. This ensures excellent colour rendition, contrast and a wide viewing angle. This surface is best suited to dark (cinema) viewing conditions. Matt Plus is the only screen surface option available on electric roller screens. 
Perlux
Perlux is a coated vinyl surface. The special coating gives excellent colour rendition and a wide viewing angle. It enhances reflectance and gives a sparkle to the image. The reflectance level (gain) of 1.4 is useful with bigger screens or lower power projectors. Best suited to dark (cinema) conditions.
Starlight
Starlight is the ultimate home theater surface. It is a coated vinyl with a complex formulation, which enhances both contrast and screen brightness. The reflectance level (gain) of 1 makes it suitable for larger screens or for smaller screens with lower power projectors. The colour rendition is excellent and is particularly effective at maintaining contrast when projecting dark images. The surface is also effective at reducing "washout" from ambient light.
Micro-Perforated Screens
If the centre channel speaker is placed behind the screen, acoustically permeable perforated screens are recommended.
Perforation hole diameter 0.5mm (0.02") Perforation density 5.1%
Perforation is invisible under projection conditions at 6 ft. or more distance. Perforated screen surfaces are only available on fixed frame screens.
